“Does it have something to do with this flannel?” Kathy asked then sat back down. “And you swear my jeans were a fashion disaster–how the mighty have fallen.”
“No, ignore the flannel,” Jioni said. “So turns out today, I’m-um going across the park?”
“Oh, ok, so the red building?” Brandon asked.
“No, you know, I’m just going to, yeah,” Jioni said. She wiped her forehead.
Kathy followed Jioni’s gaze, and Jioni soon knew that she knew. The faulty plan was coming apart, and she couldn’t think of a better lie. Jioni’s body was fidgety as if she would take off at any moment.
