Damaged: 3-11

“Window, now!” Kathy shouted as she shoved Jioni forward. The Tenebris immediately followed.

Jioni ran to the escape first; she hit the glass repeatedly; despite her soreness, she gave all her effort—but the glass wouldn’t budge. She then used the wrench nunchucks to hit as hard as she could; it blaringly clinked the glass, but it refused to crack. Panic swelled, and she soon found herself pushing and banging with her fists.

Jioni turned around, frozen still.

A Tenebris caught Kathy’s arm. Four surrounded her. Their high-pitched whistles pierced Jioni’s ears, and in the dark, she couldn’t get the flashlight to work; it flickered once and then never came back on. The only source of light they had now was the pitiful window.

Despair gnawed at Jioni’s guts.
