Its eyes shined bright. The Tenebris made a silent ringing sound: like a dog whistle; It was faint but loud enough in the quiet hallway. It revealed its mouth—that was absent before. It had dozens of sharp white teeth that resembled a shark’s, and those teeth soaked in this slime-like saliva that matched the color of its glowing eyes; Its mouth opened wide; its teeth took up most of its face.

Kathy pulled Jioni and Jioni kicked while she used the wrench nunchucks to attack; her arms couldn’t reach the caught leg, and the color soon drained from her face.

Kathy did one more pull with a grunt, and Jioni was free. She put the nunchuck in her mouth, and desperately dragged Jioni through the hall.

Jioni followed in a crawl until she could stand and run; her legs were sore and red from the monster’s grip. Her hands pushed against the doorframe as she entered.

Kathy then slammed the door, and the building swayed again. The two looked at each other. Even though Jioni couldn’t see Kathy’s eyes underneath her bangs, she could tell she was terrified by her agape mouth

“Thanks,” Jioni said. She couldn’t blink and leaned near a wall. “I’m sorry.”

“You’re ok? I’m ok. We’re ok. ok,” Kathy replied in sparse breaths.
