Jioni walked toward LaMesha, but LaMesha stepped away.
“Hey, you don’t have to report this,” Jioni said.
LaMesha blinked once, then scoffed. She paused before she spoke.
“You tell me that every time,” LaMesha started. “And you couldn’t just cause trouble by yourself either—now you too, Katherine? You’re both delinquents.”
“You’re not giving her a chance to explain,” Kathy dejected.
“Not today. No, not for this. There’s not a single new thing you can tell me that I don’t already know about Jioni.” LaMesha’s fingers rested on the bridge of her nose. “Anyway, I have a job to do. You two should go home before it gets dark.”
