She regained herself and made her run to the clinic. In her scurry, she stumbled on some rocks. There were more of them on the floor. Slipping and sliding, she had no choice but to look down. Jioni jolted back.
The rocks on the floor weren’t stone but crystals from the Tenebris. Stepping on some created a bursting sound. It wasn’t too loud but loud enough to draw attention to herself. She changed her run to a jog while moving around the crystals.
Agents still filled the streets, all holding weapons.
In the jumble, Jioni found Brandon, but his attention was not on her; he held onto a lance, the same shiny new one that most Junior Agents received; he stood next to his sister, Jolene, who had the same solemn stare. She had a lance, too, but her grip was firm. Jioni hid behind a crooked pole to watch them. As she followed their gaze, several Tenebris phased in and out of visibility around them.
