Jioni reached for her side; her hands shifted around frantically as she patted herself. Then, her stomach clenched.
“Of course. I forgot my satchel—and the nunchucks.”
Her mind debated itself: turn back and grab a weapon or continue on this route. The clinic was so close.
Suddenly, swishing sounds echoed through the street. A few crashes and thuds later, they were all gone. Jolene’s breath was heavy. Tenebris crystals hit the ground and evaporated.
Jioni rubbed her eyes, the disbelief visible in her stare. Jolene managed to do this all by herself, but the fact that they were gone within an instant—not even Brandon had a chance to strike.
“She scares me more than the Tenebris do.” Jioni frowned.
