The Luxurious Life: 6-28

Jioni listened out for Derrin and heard nothing.

She glanced back up the stairwell and then back to the wasteland door; it was metal, secure, old, and mysterious, and Jioni was in awe, feeling tempted; slowly, she crept over, placed her hand on the handle, and pulled. The door clicked, and to her surprise, it opened. The sand from that side blew into her face; the wind roared as it echoed and hit the stairwell wall. Jioni squinted, unable to see anything but sand and darkness. Immense guilt came as she slammed the door shut, then walked backward until she reached the right one.

“Okay, maybe that was a bit reckless.”

Jioni pushed the City Two door and walked home in the dark city night. Her conscience ached with hope and paranoia. She needed to execute her plan tomorrow flawlessly—only having the day left.
