“Have you been to City Four? Heck, have you seen City Three? You couldn’t tell the difference between a wasteland and one of those cities. Geogen gives us uniforms, weapons, food, and water. We need things. We have things. All you guys ever do is beg for things we don’t have,” Tracey announced. “And what do you mean you don’t have a payment for tomorrow?”
“I don’t,” Jioni said. “I ran out of credits.”
Tracey paused. Then, she softened her face. “What’d you spend it on?”
“Like, some vegetables, water, and the payments. I swear. Nothing else.”
Tracey paused, then stood up tall. “Okay….okay. I’ll pay for you tomorrow.” Tracey held her head. “Ugh, I wish you’d tell me that sooner. Everything with you is the eleventh hour.”
