She had given away her position with the constantly falling leaves; the sun blinded her as she ran to the edge of the roof. From up high, the wind blew, and she could see Emmitt’s clinic from a distance.
“If anyone knew how to shake off Agents, it’d be that guy,” Jioni said as she peered back and then straight ahead again.
Jioni saw below from the roof; she couldn’t do such a jump—but she jumped anyway, the 30 feet down without screaming.
With her eyes closed the fall felt short. She landed on the damaged arm without feeling and then crawled behind a bush.
