Joe 3L is still under construction!

If you haven’t watched this video regarding this story, definitely check it out! But to sum everything up, the story is about some loser named Joe trying to run a home designing business with his friends! Their business is as successful as Blockbuster or RadioShack!

This mini blog post will give some context on what I’m planning to do! I think I’ll get to chapter 15 of my current book: 2152 The Trifold Article and then start on this one!

I feel like chapter 15 would be a good pause point, but anyways…! Here’s some additional info about Joe 3L!

1. It’ll be a watercolor and digital art hybrid just like the thumbnail! If you’re wondering, the characters are in watercolor, like their flat colors, while the line art and background are digital

2. It’ll be a short book with around 6-10 chapters! It’ll be formatted like my other books as well!!

The Characters!

Joe

Joe is the small business owner and founder of Joe’s Luxury Lifestyle Living. He’s super worried about his business failing because he didn’t go to college and decided to take out this ridiculous business loan. Joe is very patient, like zen levels of patience, where he doesn’t freak out publicly when something goes wrong but tries to solve it without spiraling. Which is somewhat crazy, considering everything goes wrong. Especially since he hired his friends and a random college graduate. He’s close to all of them now which can be a problem since he’s their boss. His arc will mostly center around maintaining friendships while trying to elevate a career. A very 20-something-year-old struggle to deal with. He’s tired, broke, and lives in late-stage capitalism, all the good stuff.

Zariah

Zariah is Joe’s best friend. She’s the one who finds clients and promotes the business in any way she can. Since Joe is more laid back, Zariah is more of the “He asked for no pickles” type of character. She’s very kind and very sweet, but she isn’t afraid to speak her mind, even if it means crossing a couple of lines and stepping on people’s toes. She’s very good at what she does! Her arc is also similar to Joe’s. While Joe is afraid to speak his mind while trying to maintain the business.  Zariah is the opposite; she isn’t afraid to speak her mind while trying to maintain the business, which can lead to issues with coworkers and clients. But again, she’s very sweet and wouldn’t say anything hurtful, but she’s definitely stern in her delivery.

Elijah

Elijah has been Joe’s friend since middle school. They’ve known each other for a long time, and that’s a problem. It’s a problem because Elijah will go over budget with getting materials, be late to consultation meetings, and just simply be one of the most unprofessional designers you’ll ever meet, and all this stuff because he’s Joe’s friend and faces little to no repercussions. And even though he is the one solely tanking the business with his actions. He’s also, in a way, helping it because, through his creativity, the company occasionally finds success. He’s very good at talking to people. He’s good at taking criticism. He’s good at architecture. He’s very passionate. It’s like you can’t get rid of him even if you wanted to. He’s a high-risk, high-reward kind of guy. And let’s be honest, if the business is going to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It might be because of Elijah. Zariyah, of course, has also been his friend for a while, so she’ll try to explain the situation to him. It goes in one ear and out the other. But I can imagine his arc being financially responsible.

Julianna

Julianna’s an art school graduate at the peak of Mt. Stupid of the Dunning Krueger effect. She overestimates her knowledge and abilities in interior design, even though she’s not as knowledgeable or skilled. She’s a great designer, just not as good as she thinks she is. Julianna gets super upset when criticized and can’t really understand why people don’t like her remodels. With Julianna, it’s never malicious. She always puts 100% into everything she does and wants everyone to see her creativity as she sees it. But that’ll take a lot of work and patience. Her arc will definitely be overcoming that peak ignorance and getting to a stable level of learning and growing while not losing her passion in the face of rejection.
