Tracey came in front of Bree and smiled. “I see you’ve brought a friend with you. I’m afraid you haven’t introduced me to him.”
“Oh, him? That is Skylar. He is part of the Coterie—say hello, Skylar.”
Skylar waved without saying a word.
Tracey waved back, but she couldn’t keep up the false smile any longer—every time Bree Prexy came, she was only digging for dirt—Tracey felt numb as Bree went corner to corner, wall to wall, sticking her pointy nose everywhere it didn’t belong. Tracey didn’t know what she was looking for, but the silence was killing her; her body fidgeted in different stances as she tried to get comfortable where she stood.
Bree paused at her desk and looked directly at something; she smiled and motioned for Skylar to come over. He did.
