Jioni fanned the smoke out of the air as she got a better look at Kathy’s face. She didn’t want to say goodbye, but she also didn’t want Kathy to be dragged along in more danger. Jioni held her arm and took a step closer. She shushed Emmitt before he could speak.
“Wait, let me explain to her,” Jioni said. “So, I initially came here to say goodbye.”
Kathy stepped forward. “Goodbye? What do you mean goodbye? Where the heck are you going?”
“We are planning to go to Outergen. Ms. Tracey told us how to get there—but this is both really dangerous and pretty much illegal. I know what you’re about to say—you want to come, but let me finish what I have to say first.”
“Ok, wow. Wait, ok, go on,” Kathy said. She covered her mouth.
“Before this, I had asked Brandon to come, and he said it was a bad idea—I then think of a couple of days ago and how we almost died in that building—I’m just trying to say you’re my best friend, and I don’t want you to feel pressured to come and do dangerous things with me.”
