“Ok, well, she’s probably leaving tonight,” LaMesha continued. “And Tracey suspects she’s going to leave through this gate.”
“Why would they suspect this gate,” Derrin asked.
“I don’t know, maybe because she’s your little sister, and you gave her a gun,” DaMarko said. “If you’re willing to go against protocol this way, who’s to say you won’t let the kid walk out.”
“She’s not my actual sister,” Derrin replied.
This was the only thing he uttered. LaMesha waited for him to say anything else, but when there was nothing, she spoke up.
“Derrin you have to listen. Jolene—She signed DaMarko and me up as bounties, without our consent,” LaMesha said. She put her hand on her forehead, and everyone could feel her headache. “If we can stop Jioni here in the city, then we don’t have to go outside and risk our lives for a measly 3000 credits. You understand?”
Derrin put on his glasses, nodded, and folded his arms. “Yeah, I understand.”
LaMesha looked back at DaMarko, who gave a thumbs up, and he climbed down the side of the tower. Once he was gone, LaMesha sighed.
This caught Derrin’s attention.
