Jioni tried before to go around, but learned quickly it was impossible. The trees that grew there were thick, strong, and unmoveable; the city officials cleared the trees in the park but couldn’t be bothered to do it anywhere else. Jioni rubbed her chin as she looked around the area. Then strolled on the cracked park cement towards them.
“Oh, hi, Jioni. Why are you walking like that?” Brandon asked with a puzzled expression. He sat on a broken seesaw way past its prime. “Did you break your leg again?”
“Her leg seems fine, but her demeanor isn’t,” Kathy said. She sat on a swing; It made an awful creaking noise as she swayed back and forth.
It hadn’t been a minute yet, and the jig was already up. Jioni wore a nervous smile, and her friends wore a confused one. Before saying anything, she gave them both a hug.
