The Luxurious Life: 6-25

“I’ll talk to the mayor tomorrow. I have a plan that may help us both,” Jioni replied. “It’s a plan I’ve had in my head for a while now.”

Derrin had a beat smile but didn’t attempt to question her. His face suddenly turned to shock, and he pushed Jioni to the side: a Tenebris appeared from the City Two ledge. He grabbed his handgun and shot them before they could get inside. The smell of gunfire permeated the space once again.

“Do you have a weapon?” Derrin asked. “There’s still Tenebris outside.”

“No, only the wooden plank, if you count that,” Jioni said. “I fought like five on my way over here with it.”

Derrin sighed. He walked over to Jioni, hesitated, but then handed her a small handgun. “Do you know how to use it?”

Jioni grabbed the gun without a second thought. She held it carefully; it was heavy. Every weapon that Geogen made had this modern look to it. She flipped the gun around and then pointed it forward with an exaggerated stance.

“I don’t. But I’m already ready!” Jioni said with enthusiasm.

“Keep your finger off the trigger unless you see a Tenebris,” Derrin said. He pointed the gun down and began fixing Jioni’s stance. “Lean slightly forward. Remember to hold it firmly. Make sure your wrist isn’t that limp, and there you go. A year’s worth of Agent training in one minute. Also, that thing isn’t a toy. Bring it back immediately tomorrow.”
