“Ok,” Jioni replied. “I’m just tired. I’m thinking a lot, you know? I’ve just been having a hard couple of weeks.”
Tracey appeared to be only half listening. She typed in a hurry and, in her quick motion, knocked over some papers. “Ugh, I should’ve organized this this morning.”
The papers flew into the air and floated back down onto the ground. Jioni shot up and caught them as they flew air and onto the ground.
Tracey smiled briefly. “That’s why you’re one of my favorites, Jiji. You’re always so quick to help. It’s a beautiful trait for a beautiful young lady.”
Jioni felt a faint warmness inside. It was nice to hear Tracey say something like that about her, even if she’d most likely say the opposite on an upsetting future date. But for now, she had garnered her admiration, and it gave Jioni an uneasy comfort. She straightened up the stack and gave it to Tracey.
