Mayor Tracey: 7-10

Jioni spun in her chair and distracted herself by listening to the constant clacking of Tracey’s keyboard. She thought about what she said about her being a compassionate Agent. She smiled to herself, then frowned. Derrin was compassionate, too, but he seemed more than miserable. Jioni looked toward Tracey.

“Do you think being an Agent for 40 years is worth it?”

“Of course it is,” Tracey beamed. She then paused. “I used to be an Agent before all this mayor crap.”

Jioni sat up straight. “Why’d you quit?”

“I never quit. I was injured, and Geogen told me to retire a decade ago,” Tracey said. “I can’t be an Agent, but I feel whole knowing that I can live through all the new Agents here I fostered. And you, too. You’ll have a better life than me.”
