“I always knew she was up to no good. Leaving the city, huh? Well, I’m glad you decided not to become a delinquent with her,” Jolene said.

“How long were you listening?” Brandon asked. He shook where he stood.

“Long enough to know that she’s gonna end up in trouble tomorrow.”

Jolene pointed to the bed, and Brandon reluctantly went under the covers. 

As Jolene sat at the edge of the bed, she wore her angry face. Her breaths were still audible for a half minute. But she eventually calmed and tucked Brandon under the sheets even more. Her face softened as she looked at him.
