Emmitt paused and held up two fingers, prompting her to wait. He then pushed a cabinet to the side, and Jioni came and helped. Dust flew in the air; cobwebs began to break; the heavy cabinet screeched against the floor as they pushed—It left a trail of dirt where it moved. Emmitt then rubbed his hands together; he pulled open the door to reveal another room.
“You can hide out here for a while,” Emmitt said. “You know, I’ve been on the straight and narrow all year until you came. I became an accessory to whatever crime you committed.”
