Emmitt smiled. “Of course not. Amelia’s Prom is different, I’ve seen the ruins of a high school before. That’s how life used to be for people our age, and If more people read it, I doubt they’d become Agents. Then die in Mission 32-8B like our parents.”

“They’re not dead—who says they’re dead?” Jioni said with narrowed eyes.

 “You’re the one in fantasyland,” Emmitt said. “But that’s not the point. The point is that life on Geogen used to be like the book—and I wish I could’ve gone to prom, too, and become prom king. I would’ve swept the competition.”
